Victoria Humphrey

Singer, Guitar

Victoria Humphrey is a longtime North PB County resident and a popular member of its Open Mic scene since 2019. Her Facebook bio says she was “Born in the Midwest. Educated, worked and married Back East. Raised a big-ass family Down South.” Now she brags that she’s “finally getting a paid for a lifetime of singing-and-playing-for-free.” Her deep alto leads, harmonies and rhythm guitar add spicy fun to the Blues, Delta and left-field music she brings to the band.

Linda’s musical foundation began in gospel churches of the late 60s and 70s in Los Angeles, California, where she got heavy exposure to the gospel sounds made famous by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Sly and the Family Stone, among others. While her classical training gave her a solid grounding in Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, the era influenced her rock sensibilities through Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Nicky Hopkins, JohnPaul Jones, Chuck Leavell, Gregg Allman, Richard Wright, Al Kooper, Steve Winwood, Gregg Rolie, and Lee Michaels. Her love of Jazz/Fusion came via Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Lyle Mays, Bill Evans, Jan Hammer, and Nat King Cole. She has performed in numerous bands including “In The Light of Led Zeppelin”, “Breathe (a Pink Floyd Tribute)”, and as a member of the Tony Tyler Band has recorded at Capricorn Records in Macon, GA, has backed up Melody Trucks performances, jammed with members of the Allman-Betts Family and many others.
